The size was changed from iPad mini 1-3 so many older accessories don’t fit. There are no obvious technical reasons to change the size, Apple just wanted to force its users to buy accessories again. There is no GPS in the model without a GSM module.
I buy the iPad because it is very convenient to read magazines from them, and books are not bad either. The tablet is fast, comfortable and lightweight. So the above disadvantages are not that upsetting.
