I have a 125 model purchased in 2000. The older model sounds a little better, but the difference is small. The 125 has more bass saturation.
When I bought the first headphones, the 80 model also existed, but then the difference in sound seemed to me more significant (in favor of the 125). Now, the Grado 80e is the third generation of headphones. Apparently, the manufacturer has really improved the sound quality.
I listen to classical music, but these headphones also reproduce jazz very well. Rock is also good (if not too heavy, then you should definitely look in the direction of 125).
