Acer Spin 3 2020 hands-on is a midrange entry from the company in its 360-degree convertible 2-in-1 market.

We saw the previous iteration as a 2-in-1 that came with amazing features, such as a rechargeable pen and others.

Most users didn’t see it as good enough for a model from Acer. Acer Spin 3 came to change that narrative with its more interesting features.

Design

Acer Spin 3 2020 hands-on design features a 16:10 aspect ratio rather than the usual 16:9. What this means is that the laptop has a taller display.

The display fits in more data and information and helps the user reduce scrolling. We are seeing more laptops with the 16:9 aspect ratio like the Dell XPS 13.

Dell made used a 16:10 panel and left some tiny bezels and its 90% screen-to-body ratio, Acer changed the feature with a large bezel on the Acer Spin 3 2020 hands-on top.

It comes with a large chin on its bottom and the screen-to-body ratio is only 79%. However, Acer features a large wrist rest that is comfortable.

Spin 3 appears more solid and the lid is resistant to twisting. The Acer keyboard deck has zero flex, while its bottom of the chassis does not budge if roughly handled.

The hinge of the laptop is well-tuned that allows the lid to open with one hand when you hold the display in place through its four modes; laptop, media, tent, and clamshell.

It also comes with a full-size HDMI port, a USB-A 3.2 port, and a miniSD card reader. When you check the right side, you will see another USB-A 3.2 port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a Kensington lock port.

Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6 power the laptop’s wireless connectivity

The Acer Spin 3 2020 hands-on appears great on paper. The laptop provides up to an 11th-generation quad-core Intel Core i7-1165G7 with Intel Iris Xe graphics.

It offers up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and dual PCIe SSDs of either 512GB or 1TB. It is fitted with a Core i5-1135G7, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD.

Spin 3 has a beautiful display. The 16:10 display features either FHD+ (1920 x 1200) or QHD+ (2560 x 1600) resolution.

It offers plenty sharp with loads of contrast. The colors are light and natural.

The 16:10 aspect ratio offers more vertical space. This is amazing since documents and web pages are built to scroll vertically.

The Acer Spin 3 2020 hands-on has competent audio, offering plenty of volume because of its upward-firing speakers with zero distortion.

Keyboard and touchpad
